First Week of Trade School Down... 38 More Weeks to Go!

I’m going to sound like a total nerd but… my first week of school was exilerating!
I’m not sure what I was expecting. Ok, I was expecting one thing. To be the only girl in class… and that was totally accurate. Do I feel out of place? A little bit. That’s no fault of my peers and I hope that by going through this and documenting my journey… I encourage many young girls to take this career path seriously. At the end of the day, I feel like being out of your comfort zone (in most situations) only breeds growth. You either learn what you’re supposed to or learn more about yourself and that sounds like a win win to me!
My first week overall was awesome! Everyone seems like they’re starting from kind of the same point as me… and that’s REALLY reassuring! No one likes to feel like they’re behind and I thought that’s how I was going to feel but my peers know as little as I do!! LOL! The playing field seems to be pretty level. I did some cool stuff this first week which included:
getting a BUNCH of tools
getting my hands on a toolbox
getting my uniform
receiving my school laptop
Going through all the safety protocols
Next week, I actually go TO school… to the shop to be exact. I’m nervous, a little scared but to be honest — if what you’re doing scares you it means:
You REALLY care about it
You’re learning
